Microdermabrasion facial treatment - reflect how you feel inside
Microdermabrasion is one of the most recent non-surgical cosmetic skin care and facial treatment solutions. It’s gained popularity as an instant face lift due to the fact that it’s effective and less costly compared to more invasive procedures such as plastic surgery. It has gained wide acceptance as a procedure for any gender and age to improve the skin’s appearance.
Microdermabrasion is the cosmetic terminology for describing the application of tiny rough grains on the surface of your skin to buff away the effects of wrinkles, sun damage and scars. The loosening and removal of the outermost layers of the skin through this intense exfoliation treatment enhances the production of new skin cells.
In order to fully understand how microdermabrasion facial treatment works, it’s important to have a brief look at the structure of the skin. our skin consists of two layers: the epidermis (the layer closer to the outside world) and the dermis (the inner layer). The epidermis is a set of maturing and dead skin cells which form the topmost layer known as the stratum corneum. When you apply lotions or creams, the stratum corneum only allows part of it to filter through. This is the layer containing skin imperfections such as blemishes and wrinkle lines.
Microdermabrasion works on the stratum corneum to get rid of these imperfections. Just like other non-surgical cosmetic procedures, this facial treatment is a mild solution to superficial skin imperfections including acne and large pores.
As tiny grains break down the stratum corneum, the body interprets it as a mild injury and rushes to replace the damaged skin cells with healthy ones. This improves the skin surface, making it look and feel smoother. When the stratum corneum, which acts as a barrier, gets broken down, lotions and other medicinal creams can work much more effectively because their active ingredients easily find their way into the deeper skin layers.
For clients who do not want to use Botox®/Botulinum Toxin, who are healthy with minor skin imperfections this treatment is ideal. However, it is a mild procedure and cannot address deeper skin creases or folds. Book a consultation with our practitioners to assess your suitability for this treatment.
The treatment requires cleaning of the skin and application of local anaesthetic and takes about 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
The total number of treatments you might need will vary. During your consultation, our doctors will discuss a personalised treatment and aftercare plan with you to suit your needs and finances. Typically, one treatment every month for 3-4 months yields excellent long term results. Beyond that,we will discuss a maintenance plan with you.
